This Day excursion offers the best of Belize's diverse Mountain Pine Ridge region. Enjoy a spectacular view of the 1000ft waterfalls, hike through the massive entrance of the Rio Frio Cave, discover the flora and fauna of surrounding areas, and cool off in the natural formed granite pools and small falls of Rio on Pools.
Detailed Itinerary
We depart with an hour and a half drive to the first site, the beautiful 1000 ft falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Central America. We spend about 30 minutes viewing the surrounding area and taking photos.
Our next stop is at the Rio Frio Cave where we explore the cavern and its enormous entrance. We hike some small nature trails ending at a scenic picnic area where we have lunch. We then drive to the Rio on Pools where we spend the rest of the day swimming, rock hopping and enjoying a water massage from cascading waterfalls that run over a wide riverbed of smooth granite rocks.
We end the day with a scenic 2 hour drive which gets us back to the town of San Ignacio.
